5 years. We’ve been occupying Iraq for five years.

5 years of Mission Accomplished.

5 years of raining terror down on the populace.

5 years of further alienating the Arab world.

5 years of hemorrhaging money.

5 years of lawless contractors.

5 years of administration that refuses to be honest.

5 years of refusing to own up to our failures.

5 years of false pretenses and obfuscation.

5 years of an illegal, immoral war. In our name.

In my name.

In your name.

5 years.

In honor of our bullshit war, check out this blogswarm against the Iraq war.

Update: Read the real deal when it comes to perspective and the Iraq War.  Seriously. Go read it.

  1. BASICALLY THE “PEACE GROUPS” ARE SPREADING MISINFORMATION TO A LARGE HERD OF BLIND SHEEP WHO FOLLOW LIKE LOST PUPPIES. UNFORTUNATELY THE AMERICAN PUBLIC IN GENERAL IS STUPID AND THE MEDIA TAKES FULL ADVANTAGE. WAKE UP AND REALIZE IF WE PULL OUT OF IRAQ TOO SOON, WE BASICALLY HAND THEM OVER TO IRAN AND PROVIDE ALL OF THE TERRIROTY WE HAVE GAINED RIGHT BACK TO THE TERRORISTS TO EXPAND AND PLAN MORE ATTACKS ON OUR SOIL. KEEP TALKIN DIRT ABOUT BUSH BUT WE HAVEN’T HAD ANOTHER ATTACK ON OUR SOIL AND NEVER HAS A PRESIDENT HAD TO DEAL WITH SUCH AN ATTACK- YOU CANNOT EVEN COMPARE PEARL HARBOR- IT WAS A MILITARY TARGET- NOT A CIVILIAN TARGET. PLEASE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS- YOU BRING THEM DOWN BY PROTESTING- IF WE BRING THEM ALL BACK TOO SOON, ALL OF US AND OUR CHILDREN WILL PAY THE PRICE. T4TOBY THE SHEEP-IDIOT

  2. I guess you feel pretty strongly anout this, since you felt the need to insult me. But believe me, buddy, I’ve been called worse.

Haven’t had another attack on our soil on Bush’s watch? What, one wasn’t enough?

If you have paid any attention at all to Osama bin Laden, he has repeatedly said that he wants to bring down the US by getting it hopelessly mired in wars it cannot afford in order to collapse the economy. Bush and McCain’s ‘War Without End’ plays right into his hand.

A true patriot is one who asks questions.

  4. YEAH,APOLOGIES FOR THE INSULTS- ONE ATTACK IS OBVIOUSLY ONE TOO MANY, BUT WITHOUT RETALIATION (AND SOMEWHAT OF A STRONGHOLD IN IRAQ), MORE ATTACKS BY THIS TIME WOULD HAVE BEEN INEVITABLE. BIN LADEN CAN SAY WHAT HE WANTS ABOUT WARS WE CANNOT AFFORD- MERELY TACTICS TO SPLIT THE PEOPLE IN THE U.S.- I BELIEVE HE DESPERATELY WANTS US OUT OF IRAQ FOR ROOM TO BREATHE. BASICALLY WE NEED TO KEEP THE SQUEEZE ON HIM AND IRAQ IS A PART OF THAT. I AGREE THAT A “WAR WITHOUT END” IS MORONIC- THERE HAS TO BE A TIMELINE FOR IRAQ’S GOVERNMENT TO TAKE CONTROL, ALTHOUGH IT CANNOT BE WRITTEN IN STONE AND EXTENSIONS OF THE TIMELINE WILL NEED TO DWINDLE OR THEY WILL PROBABLY LET IT GO ON FOREVER. I AM RELIEVED TO HEAR THAT YOU ARE NOT FOR ALL OUT IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWL- MANY PEOPLE ARE AND THAT WOULD BE A HUGE MISTAKE. AGAIN, MY APOLOGIES FOR THE PERSONAL ATTACK, I KNOW WE’RE ON THE SAME SIDE- JUST OPINIONATED. I DO HOWEVER, FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT IRAN WOULD TAKE IRAQ IN A HEARTBEAT WITHOUT OUR TROOPS THERE AND THAT IRAN SUPPORTS THE TERRORISTS, NOT JUST BECAUSE MY GOVERNMENT SAYS SO, BUT MY COMMON SENSE SAYS SO. PS- I DON’T LIVE ANYWHERE NEAR VIRGINIA, AM NOT WORKING FOR THE GOVERNMENT, AM NOT MILITARY OR OF COMBAT AGE (IF I WAS, I WOULD CERTAINLY BE PROVIDING ANY SERVICES I COULD, AND LIKE ALL OF OUR TROOPS WHO WILLINGLY SIGNED UP FOR COMBAT, WOULD SUPPORT THE WAR RELENTLESSLY) I ALSO BELIEVE THAT WHAT OUR GOVERNMENT TELLS US IS MOSTLY FALSE, ALTHOUGH JUST BECAUSE THEY SAY SO, DOESN’T MAKE IT ALL UNTRUE- SAME WITH THE MEDIA, ALTHOUGH I BELIEVE THE GOVERNMENT TELLS LESS LIES THAN THE MEDIA- SAD ISN’T IT?

  5. Yes, I must agree that what we are fed in our media is as spurious as what our ‘elected’ officials give us.

I think it is interesting that when we peel back the layers of misunderstanding we find ourselves much closer to middle ground on these things.

One of my biggest regrets about the Iraq war, strategically, is that Iraq and Iran acted as ballast to one another when Saddam was in power. We created a power vacuum that Iran is more than happy to try and fill.

So not only did we unleash misery and death, we empowered a relatively weak country (Iran) as well as fomenting lawlessness in Iraq which is now acting as a breeding ground for new terrorists.

Now don’t get me started on Afghanistan…

  10. The truth is that both the dems and repubs are in cahoots. This war will not end until we take our government away from the two parties of the apocalypse…

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a while. I’m back starting with todays post.

The scientifically impossible I do right away
