Hillary Clinton is the Nader2000 of 2008.

Filed under: Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Politics — t4toby @ 10:19 am

So my last post generated some controversy.

<clutchpeals>How could I suggest that Barack Obama volunteer for the VP slot?</clutchpearls>

Here’s how I came up with that crazy thought:

  • Hillary will stop at nothing(even tearing the Democrats asunder) to obtain the nomination.
  • Fighting amongst ourselves only plays into the Republicans’ hand.
  • Barack is posturing himself as some kind of visionary.
  • Visionaries tend to place strategic thinking over petty squabbling.
  • Combining forces with Hillary would allow us to use our resources against John McCrank McCain instead of using them to give the Yellow Elephants ‘aid and comfort’.
  • Hillary will stop at nothing(even tearing the Democrats asunder) to obtain the nomination.

I proposed that Barack volunteer in keeping with the ‘Keep you friends close, Keep your enemies closer’ plan. It is called strategy.

What worries me most is that the Obama camp doesn’t seem to have any flexibility in its plan of attack. St. Obama must be president, or else. Forget about long-term viability of the Democratic party. Forget that the true enemy here (Rethugs) have a long history of dirty tricks and gamed votes. Forget that saying you are all for negotiations, except when it comes to the biggest popularity contest on Earth. Just install Obama as President.

Strategy, people. This is no joke, no small thing. Hillary has the Inside-the-Beltway crowd firmly in her camp. Obama has the erstwhile Chicago machine in his camp. This is like two prohibition era gangs battling for the entire US’s black market liquor sales. Except that if these two mortally wound each other, aliens from planet Whogivesashit will continue to rape, rob and pillage our country.

Hillary will hold on until the convention with the intention of trying to slice away just enough superdelegate votes to get her in. Obama will continue to push back. And Old MAn McCain will laugh all the way to the bank.

It seems that the Democrats in this country are trying to make “Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory®” their permanent slogan .

  1. That’s an entertaining take on things. Hillary is a pretty polarizing force, though, and whatever her support currently, I know too many people who declined to vote in the primaries but voiced their intention to vote for McCain if Hillary is nominated. I don’t agree with their methods, but I don’t think she’s one who can lead a democratic victory.

I hope I’m wrong. Aliens from the planet Whogivesashit taking over for another 4 years would roll this country under.

  2. I’m of the opinion that only Obama has the rhetorical skillz to make it work. He is about the only person up to making Hillary palatable, IMHO.

  3. If there are two kids on a playground. Each one wants the same toy. One kid throws a temper tantrum, the other behaves nicely. Who gets the nomination…errr..toy?

  4. Pick your battles. If giving the toy to the good kid means the insufferable kid will not shut up for several months? I’d probably give the shitty kid the toy to shut them the hell up, and I would reward the good kid in private for dealing with the situation well.

  6. If I’m going to pick my battle, the one for President of the United States is going to be at the top of my list, and “party unity” can be a far second.

  7. Fair enough. I agree to disagree.

I feel that party unity is the key to making sure we mitigate the amazingly disproportionate influence of the Neo-Con movement.

  8. you are confusing me. if she’s the Nader of this year why would you want Barack to succeed to her? oh right. you liked Nader. See? I’m still confused. I like Perrin’s take on it all… sorry but I know Perrin and you, sir, are no Perrin. How bout those bowling scores?

Just because I voted for Nader in 2000 does not mean I ‘like’ him. I think Nader2008 is a clown, and I think these two Dem nominees are trying to hand this contest to McCain.

  9. strike, spare or split? I’d bet on the split.

  10. Whats your argument? Because Hillary is going to sabotage the Democratic party, Obama, the current FRONT RUNNER, should take the second spot?

No way!! I will not vote for a ticket with Hillary on it. I would have been willing to vote for Hillary if Obama lost a few months ago, but after watching the way she has conducted herself, no way. Her politics remind me of Carl Rove and George Bush.

I would love to vote for Obama. But might have to vote for McCain if Hillary is nominated.

  11. Dude, that’s fucking stupid.

You would seem smarter if you said you liked to eat poo in your cheerios.

See, M? This is the kind of shit that I was talking about. Between Hill and Barry we’re going to deliver the Presidency to Old Man McCain’s sorry assed Bush Impression.

Mission accomplished, fucking spineless, strategy-less Dems.

  12. It’s only people like my sister and other Hillary haters who will tip for McCain. The main thing is Hillary just needs to concede but as Dennis says, the Clintons are dark devious evil and will stop at nothing to get the nomination. I don’t think asking Obama to betray the hoards of new voters, and middle of the roaders who want REAL CHANGE, by sucking up to Hillary is fair. He has something and now everyone’s trying to take it away from him. The media is fucking with the obvious desire of the masses to see Obama as Pres. First they anoint him and now they’re throwing around this VP shit.

  13. With his rhetorical skillz, I’ll bet Barry could sell a ketchup Popsicle to a lady wearing white gloves.
